Dr. Yannick Veilleux-Lepage
Scientific Director
Dr. Yannick Veilleux-Lepage is the Scientific Director of Pier Point Consulting. At Pier Point, Dr. Veilleux-Lepage leads several large-scale projects, conducts meetings and training with stakeholders, and provides client services as a subject matter expert in online narratives and propaganda that foster or normalize terrorism; Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremism (REMVE) and the transnational links of REMVE groups; ideological and technical diffusion; and the terrorist misuse of emerging technologies, particularly UAVs, 3D printing, and synthetic biology.
Dr. Veilleux-Lepage is a qualified educator and course developer. He has delivered training courses and expert-level briefings to law enforcement, regulatory, and intelligence agencies worldwide. He is routinely called upon to provide expert analysis to various media institutions and has been featured by several outlets, including BBC, CNN, The Guardian, and Wired Magazine.
Before founding Pier Point, Dr. Veilleux-Lepage worked as an intelligence analyst for the Government of Canada, specializing in international terrorism. Since then, he has held several academic positions at highly prestigious universities. In his capacity as an academic, he has authored several ground-breaking reports and articles exploring emerging security threats. Dr. Veilleux-Lepage holds a Doctorate in International Relations from the University of St Andrews in Scotland, a Master’s degree in International Affairs from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University in Ontario, Canada, and a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis on Security Studies, also from Carleton University.

Ellie Ashton is the Director of Training and Educational Programs and the Account Manager at Pier Point. As a qualified educator and course developer, Ellie leverages 12 years of experience in education to develop the highest quality training and professional development programs for practitioners, particularly assisting other teachers in navigating complex security questions. Additionally, Ellie is the main point of contact for stakeholders and clients of Pier Point Consulting.
Ellie is currently completing her Master’s in Education (Societies, Languages, and Cultures) at the University of Ottawa. She holds a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (Secondary English and Drama) from the University of Exeter and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociolinguistics from Lancaster University. She has worked in education in five different countries in teaching and whole-school leadership roles.
